I’ve been seeing people posting up their 2021 Hobonichi covers, so I thought I’d join in the fun.
I didn’t think I’d buy another one, since the one-page-a-day layout wasn’t really working out for me, but then they came out with the A5 notebook and the day-free hobo…
It’s testing my self-control to not start using them right now.

  1. @vishae I’ve been using a standard A5 notebook for the past few years now. I often write more than a page, so the Hobonichi doesn’t work for me. I did use one for a year, and it got me into the habit of daily journaling.

  2. @cygnoir Hobonichi Day-Free has the monthly pages and the info pages at the end, but where the daily pages used to be, you now have your daily layout (with the quote at the bottom, page numbers in the corner) but without the date at the top. But, you only have 171 pages of that.
Hobonichi A5 notebook is a grid notebook, no info pages, no page numbers, no layouts, just 288 pages of TR paper. A much better deal if you don’t care for page numbers and stuff.

  3. @vishae So pretty! I’ve been using one of the hobonichi notebooks for work this year, where I drew in the calendars at the beginning. I’ve already added the day free for next year in to the case with the current year, and I am excited to be able to plan ahead!

  4. @sgtstretch I’m addicted to Tomoe River paper (I use fountain pens with 1.1mm nibs), prefer grid ruling and don’t like my books too thick. So after all those criteria, there’s not a lot of options to choose from.

  5. @vishae So excited! I ordered an A5 Hobonichi Techo 2021 Day-Free because I prefer the monthly layouts, the page numbers, and the smaller number of pages for a better fit in my Galen Leather A5 cover.

  6. @cygnoir btw, your Galen Leather cover, is it crazy horse leather? I’m trying to see figure out whether the leather is smooth, waxy finish or the suede-like finish (Traveler’s Notebook cover in brown has a suede like finish, whereas their navy one is more waxy). I personally prefer the suede texture but most places do waxy finish.
